With international jazz star performer
Nomfuzi
said to be South Africa’s next Brenda Fassi
and appearing later at the Montreal Jazz festival in Canada....
...as well as the national names such as Steve Newman, Tony Cox, the Road Warriors and a repeat involvement by students from the UCT School of Jazz, our line-up is set to be spectacular on a national level this year.
The SABC has confirmed that they will be filming a documentary on Nomfusi and will include Nomfusi’s motivational shows which she which she will be performing at the local schools, the Stanford Earth Hour Jazz Festival event, the sponsors and brands involved who make it possible as well as highlighting tourism in the area to be broadcast on prime time national TV for 45 minutes at 7pm.
Footage of the event, participating brands, local produce and the beauty of our tourism area, will further be broadcast by ETV.
“The beauty of this project is that it is in support of both environmental as well as social, performance and arts factors.
This event aims to highlight and promote rich new talent who in turn will present a wonderful oppurtunity to provide role models and experience to local youth through the establishment of a Social Outreach Jazz Programme and Performance Arts school presently in it's planning and funding phase.
Proceeds of the Event are in aid of Overstrand Conservation Foundation’s award winning Eco schools educational project in the Overstrand area which has been highly successfully implemented into the local schools.
We look forward to the continual successfull growth for both ‘prongs’ off the platform of this event with much excitement.”
Earth Hour 2011
It’s time to go beyond the hour
At 8.30 PM on Saturday 26 March 2011, lights will switch off around the globe for Earth Hour. This year, when the lights go back on, we want you to think about what you can change in your daily life that will benefit the planet. To share your stories, thoughts and ideas with us and to get inspiration from what others are doing. So tell us what you’re going to do and we’ll tell the world.
Together our actions add up
